B29 is available for tourist during “New Normal”
Since the Covid-19 pandemic spread throughout the world including in Indonesia, almost all tourist attractions have been closed by local authorities, as well as Mount Bromo, even now, when the government has implemented the “new normal”, Mount Bromo is still closed for tourism activities, still there is no information regarding when Mount Bromo will be reopened for tourism.
But don’t worry, there are other ways to enjoy the beauty of Mount Bromo and its dazzling sunrise, not from Penanjakan which is the most common place for people to enjoy Bromo sunrise. This place also displays the beauty of Mount Bromo from a different side, this will give you a different view and experience even for those who have already visited Bromo.
The name of the place is B29 or Bromo 29. This view point is opened for tours including for the “new normal” policy. Even more interesting, to visit this place you are not charged an entrance ticket, except you only have to rent an ojek from the nearest village to reach the top of B29.
The B29 name refers to the altitude of this place, formerly this place was popular among local tourists with the peak of “Songolikur”, the Javanese language of “29”, and the peak of “Argosari”, the last nickname referring to the name of the village where this view point is situated. The village itself has nickname the Land above the Clouds, cause here the clouds are under your feet. This village is located in Lumajang Regency, you can access it from Lumajang City or even from Sukapura and Cemoro Lawang at the foot of Mount Bromo on the side of Probolinggo.
As at the top of Penanjakan, at B29 you can also enjoy the beauty of the sunrise Bromo and The Sea of Sand, you can also enjoy the view to the ground above the clouds much clearer than in Penanjakan. Check it below some pictures of B29.
