Klayar beach – Pacitan travel information

Klayar beach – Pacitan is one of the most beautiful beach list  which is situated along the south coast of Java. It located in Pacitan regency – East Java, in Donorojo district. This beach has perfectly beautiful view but not recommended to swim around it because it dangerous.

Around Klayar beach, you can enjoy many attractive scenery. On the west side, you can ride up the hill to see the views towards the open sea or coastal scenery around Klayar. On the east side you can go up to the rock. in this place there is a sort of fountain from the rock hole blows of the waves that hit the southern coast. The effects of a blow pipe on the beach produces a spray of water as high as tens of meters which followed the sound of screeching. Bursts like a geyser. It happens periodically. The phenomenon was caused by the suppression of sea water and the air trapped inside the channel along the cracks of rocks by the waves.

Klayar beach situated approximately about 110 km from Yogyakarta to the east and it takes around 3 hours driving. Thre is no public transportation to take you to Klayar beach that’s why you have to use private vehicles such as motorcycles or cars to reach it.

Among several other beaches around Pacitan regency, for me Klayar beach is the most attractive coastal scenery.

How to get there?

Firstly you need to be at Pacitan regency, this is a quiet remote regency which is situated in the south coast of Java. Altough Pacitan is a part of East Java province, but it situated really far from Surabaya (around 8 hours driving). So the nearest access to Pacitan regency is from Yogyakarta, it only takes around 3 hours driving.

From Yogyakarta you can follow the routes:

Jogja Wonosari street – Semanu Pracimantoro street – Pracimatoro street – Taruna Hardo – Pracimantoro Giriton street – Paranggupito Giritontro street – Paranggupito street – Nampu beach street – Nampu Kalak street – Pantai Klayar street – Pantai Klayar Pacitan

Or for easier reason, you can rent a car or motorbike to get to Klayar beach from Yogyakarta, if you’re foreign traveler, we strongly suggest you to buy day tour package for it, they will arrange everything for you so you can reach this beach easily.

This is the entrance fee for Klayar beach in 2022. IDR 15.000 for adults and IDR 10.000 for children.
