Ijen crater tour from Banyuwangi – enjoy amazing blue fire

We will pick up you at your hotel at midnight, take simple introduction with our crew and short brief of the tour. Then transfer to Paltuding at the foot of Mt. Ijen, it will takes around 2 hours drive. We strongly recommend you to use your time for rest and sleeping. Upon arrival at Paltuding camp at the foot of Mt. Ijen, please take short rest while we arrange the administration entrance for you.

Around 2:00am You will start trekking to the crater of Ijen, it takes around 1,5-2 hours depend your stamina and power. During this ascent, you can meet with many traditional miners are starting they daily job. After arriving at the crater rim, you should get down into the crater, this is the only way to see the blue fire from the close distance. Then enjoy the amazing blue fire of Ijen, you can also watch traditional miners are taking sulfurs and carry it in their bamboo basket. The blue fire will also start to fade along with the sun shine.

Trekking up to the crater rim and then continue going back down to Paltuding, it will be much shorter when you do trekking down. Rest and breakfast at Paltuding and then transfer back to Banyuwangi, it takes another 2 hours drive. Finish the tour in Banyuwangi.

• The average temperature in Mt. Ijen are between 8-15 celsius degree, depends to the season, the coldest temperature usually in the dry season or within June up to October
